BAGO, Myanmar: Floods brought by record October rains hit parts of southern Myanmar on Monday, inundating roads and fields and sending residents fleeing for higher ground.
On Sunday, authorities reported that 200 millimeters (almost 8 inches) of rain had fallen in the previous 24 hours in the Bago region, northeast of commercial hub Yangon — a record for the month.
