'Sari-sari' stores get MerryMart makeovers

MERRYMART Consumer Corp., which operates retail outlets in the supermarket and household essentials category, said Tuesday that it had transformed 100 'sari-sari' stores into mini-marts.

'[W]e believe that the true long-term solution for these hundreds of thousands of sari-sari stores to thrive is to transform and become a mini-mart,' MerryMart Chairman Edgar Sia 2nd said in a statement.
