BEIJING: China on Monday congratulated Mohamed Muiz, the pro-Beijing winner of last weekend's presidential election in the Maldives.
In a statement to Agence France-Presse (AFP), China's Foreign Ministry said Beijing "respects the choice of the Maldivian people and congratulates President-elect Mohamed Muiz."
