UE fends off UST for season-opening win

University of the East (UE) started its University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) Season 86 men's basketball tournament with a win, fending off the University of Santo Tomas (UST), 80-70, at the Mall of Asia Arena on Saturday, September 30.

Rey Remogat dropped 21 points, 10 assists, and three steals to lead the Red Warriors, who started strong and stayed in control despite multiple comeback attempts by the Growling Tigers.
