Filipino-American wingman Chris Newsome has primed himself to be one of Gilas interim coach Tim Cone's main defensive players in the 19th Asian Games men's basketball in Hangzhou, China.
"(Playing defense is) real tough but that's part of my job. I take pride in playing defense, and coach Tim is a defensive minded coach and he definitely trusted me with that job and I'm up to the challenge regardless of who it is," Newsome told One Sports, following Gilas' 87-72 triumph over Thailand on Thursday as the national squad improved to 2-0 in group play.
