SUBIC BAY FREEPORT: Following the discovery and seizure of P3.8 billion worth of illegal drugs last week, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Chairman and Administrator Jonathan Tan on Friday defended the agency from accusations that the freeport is a hotbed of smuggling.
"Don't put the blame on the SBMA. It's not our fault. We don't have control over all port operations since it's under the jurisdiction of the Bureau of Customs," Tan said at the press briefing.
