Backlund named Flames captain

ANOTHER National Hockey League (NHL) team has named a new captain, in preparation for the 2023-2024 regular season.

After the Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues and Winnipeg Jets, respectively, named new captains, the Calgary Flames on Wednesday (Thursday in Manila) announced that Swedish forward Mikael Backlund will be the 21st captain in franchise history.
