QARAQOSH, Iraq: At least 100 people were killed when a fire broke out at a wedding attended by hundreds of guests in northern Iraq after fireworks were set off inside the reception hall, officials said on Wednesday.

The cause of the Tuesday night blaze in the mainly Christian city of Qaraqosh was not immediately known, but early reports suggested that the fireworks triggered a blaze inside the packed hall which had rapidly spread because of "highly flammable" construction materials.
