Indonesia launches first carbon exchange

JAKARTA: Indonesia launched its first carbon exchange on Tuesday, giving companies a chance to offset their emissions as Jakarta pledges to reach carbon neutrality in its power sector by 2050.

The country is one of the world's biggest polluters and there has been scant progress on a multi-billion-dollar investment plan agreed with the United States and European nations last year to wean the archipelago off coal.
