Rate hikes unlikely for the rest of 2023

KEY interest rates will likely remain untouched for the rest of the year despite indications that further tightening could be required given inflationary risks, analysts said.

'We maintain our view that Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) will keep its policy rate unchanged in the remaining two monetary policy meetings this year given the already aggressive hikes previously,' Maybank Investment Banking Group economist Suhaimi Ilias said.
