HANGZHOU, China: Chinese President Xi Jinping and East Timor Prime Minister Xanana Gusmao announced on Saturday a comprehensive strategic partnership that they said was an elevation of their bilateral relations.

This elevation is needed for Beijing and Dili to improve their cooperation, Xi said during his meeting with Gusmao in Hangzhou, capital of eastern Zhejiang province and host of the 19th Asian Games, which began on Saturday.
