Southwest monsoon returns, one of 2 LPAs dissipates

THE southwest monsoon or 'habagat' has returned even as one of the two low pressure areas (LPAs) that dumped heavy rains on Saturday has dissipated, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said the other LPA remains although it was already outside PAR and there was little chance for it to transform into a tropical depression.
