THE smog that covered the National Capital Region (NCR) on Friday was not caused by Taal Volcano but by air pollution, according to an official of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

In a recorded video interview with The Manila Times on Friday, Ma. Antonia Bornas, Phivolcs volcano monitoring and eruption prediction division chief, cited the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), which said that it was pollution trapped in the lower levels of the atmosphere.
