PUBLIC Attorney's Office (PAO) chief Persida Rueda-Acosta on Thursday said environmental activists Jonila Castro and Jhed Tamano were given proper legal assistance by her office.

Rueda-Acosta issued the statement after the National Union of Peoples' Lawyers (NUPL) said that those responsible for the "illegal arrest and detention" of Castro, 21, and Tamano, 22, include the PAO lawyers who assisted in the preparation of their affidavits.
