My friend, Toots Ople

IT has been a month since my friend, Susan 'Toots' Ople, former secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers, passed away. Like many people who love her, I still can't believe she is gone.

I first met Toots when she was working as the chief of staff of then-senator Mar Roxas in the Senate in 2007. I had written to Senator Roxas asking for a donation for the Ladlad party-list.
