NLEX is bringing in NBA veteran Thomas Robinson as its import for the PBA Season 48 Commissioner's Cup, which is kicking off on Nov. 5. Coach Frankie Lim confirmed the news as the Road Warriors are determined to make a big splash heading into the new season.
The fifth overall pick by the Sacramento Kings in the 2012 NBA Draft is fresh off a stint with the Leones de Ponce in Puerto Rico where he averaged 16.5 points and 5.9 rebounds. The 32-year-old Robinson was originally recruited by San Miguel Beer in October 2022 as the team's import for the Commissioner's Cup last season. But an apparent back injury prevented the NBA journeyman from seeing action for the Beermen as he was eventually replaced by Diamon Stone. Aside from playing for the Kings, Robinson, listed at 6-9, also saw action for the Houston Rockets, the Portland Trailblazers, the Philadelphia 76ers, Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers, en route to posting averages of 4.9 points and 4.8 rebounds in 313 career NBA games. NLEX won just five games in last season's import-spiced conference.
