TAIWAN second-in-command Lai Ching-te urged the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats (CALD) to safeguard democracy in Asia as he voiced concern over the rise of authoritarianism in the region.
Lai, along with CALD representatives and global partners, on September 9 signed in Taipei a joint declaration on the current state and future of democracy in Asia during CALD's 30th anniversary public conference.
