THE two new patrol vessels donated by the United States to the Philippine Navy (PN) will bring "real, strategic benefit" not just to the alliance between the two countries but also to the region, US Ambassador MaryKay Carlson said during the christening and commissioning ceremony of the cyclone-class patrol vessels.

Carlson said that the newest addition to the PN fleet was funded through US foreign military financing amounting to P780 million, or $13.8 million.
