Team USA started the 2023 FIBA World Cup as a tournament favorite.

Despite losing by a narrow margin to Lithuania, 110-104 in the second round, the United States, composed of 12 NBA players, seemed poised to reach the medal round, along with high hopes of winning it all the way.
