55 Negros villages eyed as poll areas of concern

BACOLOD CITY: The Provincial Joint Security Coordinating Center (JPSCC) has recommended to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to classify 55 barangay in Negros Occidental as 'areas of concern' in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) due to sightings of New People's Army (NPA) rebels in the area.

Brig. Gen. Orlando Edralin, 303rd Infantry Brigade commander, said on Tuesday that the recommendation had already been forwarded to the Comelec for appropriate action.
