Buying spree boosts GSIS' Metro Pac stake

THE Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has more than doubled its stake in Metro Pacific Investment Corp. (MPIC) in just under two weeks, a move that could scuttle the firm's plans to delist from the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE).

In a disclosure, Metro Pacific said it was informed by the GSIS on Monday that the state-owned pension fund had purchased a total of 2,490,509,574 common shares from August 23 to September 4.
