Bargain-hunting props up PSEi but peso drops

HIGHER inflation weighed on both the peso and the stock market on Tuesday, with the latter only avoiding a decline, thanks to bargain hunting.

The currency weakened by 18 centavos to P56.8 versus the dollar, while the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index gained 10.32 points, or 0.17 percent, to end the day at 6,225.00.
