The peso opened the week lower against the dollar but the stock market rose back to the 6,200 level, with investor sentiment said to have been boosted by outside developments.

The currency weakened by 2 and half centavos to P56.62 against the greenback while the Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) advanced by 33.62 points or 0..54 percent to 6,214.68.
