THE peso gained anew versus the dollar on Thursday, but the stock market fell back to the 6,100 level as investors moved to pare their portfolios as sentiment soured.

The currency strengthened by 13 centavos to P56.595:$1, while the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) shed 120.04 points, or 1.91 percent, to end the day at 6,175.25.
