DSWD vows to address enrollment decline, school drop-outs

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is taking efforts to ensure that students who have enrolled will not stop schooling, its Secretary Rexlon 'Rex' Gatchalian said, as he recognizes the declining enrollment and incidences of school drop-outs. Gatchalian also said that the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) is still on track to achieve its primary goal of sending children to school, as classes began in all public schools on Tuesday.

The 4Ps National Project Management Office (NPMO) supervised around 7.1 million children-beneficiaries under its educational component during the school year 2022-2023. There were 3.2 million in elementary school, 2.8 million in high school, and 1.04 million in senior high school.
