Gilas Pilipinas kissed its FIBA Basketball World Cup second round bid goodbye after an 83-90 loss to Italy at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Tuesday, August 29.

After a back-and-forth first quarter, the Filipinos couldn't keep up with the Italians in the ensuing quarters en route to the loss before 11,821 fans.
