DESPITE the shortage in classrooms and other problems that usually hound the opening of classes, School Year 2023-2024 will start today, Aug. 29, 2023, in public schools.
Based on the latest data from the Department of Education's (DepEd) Learner Information System (LIS) Quick Count, more than 22 million learners are enrolled for the coming academic year, with 19 million of them students in public institutions.
