'Goring' escalates into a super typhoon

'GORING' has intensified into a super typhoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Sunday.

Pagasa said the super typhoon is packing maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph.
