A RISE in sea level that is about four times higher than the global average threatens to submerge most of Metro Manila, the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (Namria) said on Friday.

Speaking at a public briefing, Namria Physical Oceanography Division Chief Dennis Bringas said that from 1947 to 2022, the level of Manila Bay has risen by 13.2 millimeters (mm) per year.
