JAPAN'S Ambassador to Manila Koshikawa Kazuhiko on Tuesday confirmed his country's decision to initiate the discharge of ALPS (Advanced Liquid Processing System)-treated radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean.

"If there are no interference due to weather or sea conditions, the day of the initiation of discharge into the sea is expected to be August 24," Koshikawa said in a statement.
