BACOLOD CITY: A lawmaker has advised the sugarcane planters to increase their productivity to cushion the impact of looming lower prices of sugar in the upcoming milling season.
Negros Occidental 5th District Rep. Emilio Yulo said last year's prices ranging from P2,400 to P4,000 per sack may not be realized in the next milling season owing to the large stock of sugar waiting to be released to the market by the Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA).
