THE peso and the stock market fell at the start of a shortened trading week on the back of heightened inflation worries.

The currency weakened by 20 centavos to P56.38 versus the dollar while the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) shed 77.88 points, or 1.24 percent, to close the day at 6,212.39.
