THE Green EDSA Movement (GEM) backed the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority's (MMDA) rejection of the proposal to revert to the use of yellow bus lanes along EDSA that would allow the redeployment of up to 3,000 buses in the country's busiest thoroughfare.
"We join other civic-spirited organizations in calling on government to carry on with the implementation of the EDSA Busway and Bus Carousel Line System, preferably, in partnership with a private concessionaire, while adhering to global standards and best practices. We call on all other concerned sectors to link arms in continuing efforts to improve public transportation efficiency that is key to our people's well-being," GEM Vice Chairman Jose "Ping" de Jesus said in a statement.
