TRYING to please a rabid fandom is a thankless job. Philippine basketball is as rabid as it gets, and some would even say it's toxic. Nonetheless, basketball is a sport loved by millions of Filipinos, and it is therefore big business.
The business end of basketball has reached the college level, and without strict implementation of what were already vague guidelines, the biggest college leagues have become semi-pro leagues. The school officials and league commissioners could deny it, but the signs are too obvious.
