Actor dedicates win to victims of Philippine drug war

FILIPINO multi-awarded actor John Lloyd Cruz has won the Boccalino d'Oro (Golden Jug Award) for Best Actor at the 76th Locarno Film Festival for his role as Lt. Hermes Papauran in Lav Diaz's 'Essential Truths of the Lake.'

The Internet Movie Database describes the film as a policeman's struggle to find resolution to a 15-year-old case as he deals with the horrors of then president Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs.
