Mayon's effusive eruption continues

THERE is still no chance to lower the alert status of Mayon Volcano in Albay province since it continues to spew lava although in a 'gentle and quiet manner,' the chief of the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said on Friday.

'Effusive eruption over Mayon Volcano is ongoing for more than two months now, so we cannot lower the alert level yet,' Phivolcs director Teresito 'Toto' Bacolcol told The Manila Times in an exclusive interview.
