Manuel Quezon in perspective

THE fourth location that fellow Manila Times columnist Xiao Chua and I took our students to during an educational trip last July 16, 2023 was the oft-overlooked Museo ni Manuel Quezon, located at the base of the Quezon Memorial Shrine inside the Quezon Memorial Circle in Quezon City. That is a lot of Quezon in one sentence.

According to the 2020 census, Quezon City is the largest city in the country by population, more than a million people higher than the next city, Manila. Having been a resident of Quezon City for more than 30 years myself, I know for a fact that the most recognizable part of the city is the Quezon Memorial Circle where millions of commuters, not just from within the city but from nearby Caloocan City and the provinces of Bulacan and Rizal, pass by on a daily basis to and from their residences.
