BACOLOD CITY: A police officer was killed and two others were wounded during an encounter with suspected members of the New People's Army (NPA) in Sitio Calabugab, Barangay Minapasok in Calatrava, Negros Occidental at about 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) director Col. Leo Pamitan clarified that the incident was not an ambush but an encounter between government forces and suspected rebels.
