Politicians are not idols. They are our servants

I HAVE said it over and over again, and I will never tire of repeating it. The foundation of our political problems lies in the fact that most Filipinos have treated politicians like demi-gods. From this deadly fountain flow all the other ills that poison Philippine politics.

It is from this that we cannot unite as a people. Partisan loyalties to opposing camps, whose leaders we have elevated to become idols, have constantly bred division.
