Peso slightly higher; stock market also up

THE peso slightly strengthened against the dollar on Wednesday and the stock market also rose back to the 6,500 level following the release of positive economic data.

The currency strengthened by 4 centavos to P56.2:$1, while the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index added 57.48 points, or 0.89 percent, to end the day at 6,530.45.
