Weather disturbance outside PAR intensifies into tropical storm

THE weather disturbance has intensified into a tropical storm named 'Lan' (international name) but it would unlikely enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and has no direct effect in the country.

Weather specialist Obet Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said there were also cloud formations east of Mindanao.
