THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has lowered the alert level in Libya from 4 to 3 amid improvements in the political and security situation in the country.
The government on Wednesday placed Libya under a single Crisis Alert Level (CAL) 3, which gives Filipinos the option for voluntary repatriation.

This also means that the Philippines is no longer conducting mandatory repatriation of Filipino workers in Libya, majority of whom view their host country as "safe and secure," the DFA said in a statement. There are about 2,300 Filipino workers in Libya.
"This perception of safety is grounded on the fact that most of the OFWs remaining in Libya are veterans of conflict, having survived the civil wars of 2011 and 2014-2020, and the fight with the Daesh that accompanied the civil wars, and have thus adapted to the instability in the country," it added.
