The Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program welcomed 65 Filipino JETs — 64 Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) and one Coordinator for International Relations (CIR) – to participate in its annual program for the year 2023.
The number of JET participants has been increasing since it started inviting Filipino applicants in 2014, and the current batch overcame pre-pandemic numbers at 65 (previous 54 in 2019) and has cumulatively over 300 Filipino participants. The first batch of selected Filipino JETs flew to Japan on July 30, while the second batch is scheduled to fly this August. Prior to this, the participants engaged in a series of activities aimed at preparing them for their duties in Japan.
