MORE than 3 million persons were affected and over 200,000 were displaced by relentless rains spawned by the southwest monsoon, or "habagat," interacting with Typhoons "Egay" and "Falcon," according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

Based on the agency's report Friday, 3,028,040 individuals, or 805,621 families, in 14 regions were affected by the rains, while 287,057 persons were displaced.
