(UPDATE) THE United Nations General Assembly has adopted, by consensus, a Philippines-led resolution to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA).
Established by treaty in 1899, the PCA is an intergovernmental organization that provides a variety of dispute resolution services to the international community. With the adoption of the resolution, the UNGA recognized the PCA's important contribution to the peaceful settlement of disputes, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. The resolution "enjoyed broad cross-regional support" in the UNGA with 122 countries registering its support and co-sponsorship of the resolution, the DFA said on Wednesday.
