ACCORDING to Sprout's 2023 survey, 42.6 percent of human resources (HR) leaders in the Philippines say that the Great Resignation experienced by the US and Europe had no significant impact on attrition in their companies. The same HR leaders say that engagement and retention are the key areas that they should prioritize in 2023.

Based on the same survey, attrition in the Philippines is manageable (lower than 8 percent), but absenteeism is at roughly 20 percent, higher than the once-normal 5 percent. No data is available about slowdowns. Obviously, absenteeism and slowdowns constitute "quiet quitting," the HR phenomenon that became popular in 2022.
