PHILIPPINE manufacturing activity picked up in July with the country's purchasing managers' index (PMI) rising to 51.9 in July from 50.9 a month earlier, S&P Global Market Intelligence reported on Tuesday.

PMI readings above 50 indicate an expansion and the latest result, a rebound from June's 11-month low, mean that domestic operating conditions have now improved on a monthly basis for one-and-a-half years.
