FORMER president Rodrigo Duterte should debrief the government about his visit to Beijing, particularly about his tête-á-tête with China's President Xi Jinping. Hopefully, he also discloses to the public some key points of that private visit.
Ideally, he should have done that last week after returning from China, where the former president was received like he was still a head of state. The recent State of the Nation Address could have been an occasion for him to share information with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. But unlike other previous presidents, Mr. Duterte did not attend that annual event. And if he had already debriefed the authorities, as suggested in this space, there might have been some public report about it. So far, there have been none, which may suggest that Mr. Duterte has not had an opportunity to sit down with President Marcos.
