THE first quarter's better-than-expected 6.4-percent growth will likely be the highest for the year given signs of an economic deceleration, an analyst said.

"Signs have surfaced pointing to a loss of momentum and an eventual moderation in growth for the rest of the year," ING Manila Bank senior economist Nicholas Antonio Mapa said in a report.
