THE National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) would like to work with Cebu in providing health insurance coverage to senior citizens in the province. While nothing definitive came out of the initial meeting with Gov. Gwen Garcia on July 20, NCSC chairman Franklin Quijano hopes to undertake this cooperation moving forward. Governor Garcia also expressed her openness to helping the agency with the construction of its regional office in Cebu. NCSC and the World Health Organization are holding their national validation workshop of the Philippine Plan of Action for Senior Citizens 2023-2028 in Cebu from July 19 to 21. NCSC is the primary agency that promotes advocacy and collaboration between different stakeholders and senior citizens to ensure the effective implementation of various programs and services, particularly on the development of seniors and advancing their health and well-being, and ensuring a supportive and enabling environment for the elderly.
